Claude ledoux

Belgium

Composer

Belgian composer renowned for having composed the compulsory pieces for the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition of Belgium: Butterfly’s Dream, compulsory piano concerto for the final 2016 and « V » for violin and piano, compulsory work for the semi-final 2008.

For many years, this composer has been blending Western sounds with references to non-European music in his works, particularly the aesthetics of Eastern folk and classical music. He has traveled extensively in Asia to discover the qualities of these musical traditions. his works oscillate between sound experiments—such as Partch's Mirrors for MIDI keyboard, electronics, and large ensemble (2024)—and more directly emotional offerings, such as Ayl for clarinet and orchestra, inspired by traditional Armenian music, or Saveurs de Pierre et de Miel, dedicated to the Armenian people, thus navigating between complexity and simplicity according to the different contexts of creation.

Claude LEDOUX teaches at Arts2 - Royal Conservatory of Mons in Belgium - as well as at the Paris Conservatory in France.

He is a member of the Royal Academy of Belgium and Grand Officer of the Crown of the Belgian Kingdom.
